Meet The Pastor

My name is Steve Majdecki and I am pleased to be serving as the pastor of Moscow Mills and Old Alexandria United Methodist Churches. I was born and raised in Chicago but have lived in the St. Louis area since 1989. While I did have certain promptings toward Christian ministry as a young boy it was not until well into my adult years that I recognized this calling would lead me toward ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church. With the blessing of my family and trusted spiritual advisers, I left a fifteen year career as a CPA to fully pursue the claim that God had placed upon my life. There were several key moments during the formative years in which my calling was gradually crafted including small group Bible studies at my local church, a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, and Spirit filled conversations with covenant group brothers and sisters.

In June of 1996, I received one of the greatest blessings of my life - Jo and I were married. Since that time we have been working side by side as God appointed us to various forms of ministry. We have engaged in small group studies together. We have taught Sunday School together. We have served in many ‘behind the scenes’ ministries together. We have also shared a great compassion for precious creatures of God who found themselves in need; occasionally opening our home to people who had been caught in dire circumstances. I share all of this as a means of saying that we believe worshiping together and serving the Lord together are vital parts of a Christian marriage.

The sense that my Savior is an integral and intimate component of my marriage is reflective of my strong belief in the importance of Christian community. There is no such thing as a ‘lone ranger’ Christian. Each of us whether married or single, widowed or divorced, is called to share the gift of Christian community within the body of Christ, the Church. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we nurture, encourage and empower each other to be God’s representatives to a world which desperately needs to be told - and shown - the extravagant love of their Savior Jesus Christ.
